Clarifying Amendment to the Pratt-Smoot Act

Clarifying Amendment to the Act to Provide Books for the Adult Blind (Pratt-Smoot Act)

Summary

Provides clarification that people unable to read print because of disability would be eligible for accessible reading materials.

Our Position: Support

Approximately two million people who are currently unable to read print, a small subset of people with disabilities, would become eligible under the bill. Providing this clarification is critical to efforts to improve literacy for students with print disabilities, and will ensure that returning soldiers with TBI receive educational materials in the format they need.
