SUMMARY:Disability Community Briefing: What You Can Do to Stop the Attack on Section 504
DESCRIPTION:In September 2024\, a group of 17 states filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government called Texas v. Becerra. The lawsuit asks the court to get rid of Section 504 and its regulations. Section 504 is a major civil rights law for people with disabilities. Section 504 makes sure that people with disabilities are treated fairly and included at school and at their doctors appointments. Losing Section 504 would be a devastating loss of major civil rights for the disability community. This community briefing will explain: \n  \n– What Section 504 is and why it is so important to the disability community \n– What the new Section 504 regulations say and why they are good for the disability community \n– What is currently happening in the Texas v.
