SUMMARY:Strategic Complaint Drafting: Setting the Table Before You File
DESCRIPTION:The complaint does more than start a case\, it shapes the litigation that follows. This training hosted by CWLC and Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund (DREDF) focuses on strategic decisions lawyers should make before filing\, to position a case for success from the outset. We will cover some basic considerations such as how to identify the right defendants\, when and how to use Doe defendants\, and whether Doe plaintiffs may be appropriate in sensitive cases. The session will explore creative and strategic causes of action\, how many and which claims to plead (and when less may be more)\, and how to plan for amending complaints. The training will also address key procedural considerations that often determine whether a case survives early challenges. \n  \nPresenters: \n-Nora Cassidy\, Worker Protection Attorney\, Oakland City Attorney’s Office \n-Lois Thompson\, Retired Litigation Partner\, Proskauer Rose LLP \n  \nYou must register in advance for this training: Registration Link \n  \nIf you need an accommodation or service to fully participate\, please contact Jinny Kim at jkim@dredf.org or (510) 644-2555 ext. 5251 as soon as possible. \n  \n*MCLE: 1 General Credit
