A child protection officer, instead of seeking an order concerning the temporary or permanent removal of a child from that child's family or environment (but without prejudice to the power of the child protection officer to bring such an order later), may apply to the court for the family of the child or parent or caregiver of the child to partake in a national or private early intervention and family preservation programme.
