During her stay, Alice was denied effective communication and was subjected to the constant risk of infection from unmasked or improperly masked staff.

Service animal opens a door for a wheelchair user in a home.
Landlords use pet screening companies to ensure that tenants’ pets are well-behaved, healthy, and well-cared for. However, assistance animals used by people with disabilities are not considered “pets.” Landlords cannot require disabled people to complete pet screening procedures to live with an assistance animal.
