Dear Friends,
As 2011 begins, DREDF would like to thank all of the California lawyers who provide critical support to our legal services system. For over two decades, DREDF has been proud to receive funding from the California Legal Services Trust Fund (IOLTA) Program as a Support Center. We remain committed to providing our disability rights law expertise to legal services offices throughout the state.
We are also proud of the commitment that the private bar has made to the California legal services system β a commitment that is reflected in the State Bar 2011 dues statement that is probably sitting on your desk right now. Since 2006, your dues statement gives you the opportunity to contribute to the Justice Gap Fund. Championed by the California legal community, the Justice Gap Fund enables lawyers to make a voluntary donation to legal aid when they pay their annual dues. The State provides more information about this important initiative.
We urge you to give to the Justice Gap Fund when you submit your state bar dues this year β Any amount you can give will help provide critical legal services in these challenging times, when more and more low-income clients are seeking help.
And if you have already paid your dues β itβs not too late! You can make a Justice Gap Fund donation at any time.
DREDF knows that many of you have, and will continue, to offer critical support to legal services — Please, if you can, we urge you to make a Justice Gap Fund donation in 2011.
Thank you so much for all that you do to help ensure access to justice in California!
