The California Disability Leadership Alliance is excited to announce our 2nd annual CDLA Day of Action at the Capitol. Join us on the California Capitol West Steps to rally for our rights and services and celebrate disability culture and pride. Nothing about us, without us!

 

Event will feature a resource fair, rally and program. Participants will have the opportunity to do legislative visits in the afternoon.

 

Some priority issues for the day include:

 

-Honor the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and protect funding for disabled students

-Protect and enforce civil rights

-Protect language rights, physical access, and access to health and mental health care, education, and employment

-Defend and support disabled people targeted by government attacks, including immigrants and LGBTQIA+ individuals

-Improve physical, digital, and communication accessibility

-Improve education outcomes and language access for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing (ASL & English)

-Support voluntary, community-based, peer led mental health services and supports

-Include Certified Peers alongside navigators to assist with Medi-Cal eligibility, enrollment, and retention

-Oppose forced mental health treatment, unnecessary interactions with law enforcement, incarceration, or institutionalization

-Oppose state cuts to health care and HCBS for all communities

-Oppose health care cuts for immigrants

-End the criminalization of people with disabilities
