Summary: Through training and individual assistance, the Educational Equity Parent Advocate assists, educates, supports, and encourages parents from isolated and traditionally un-served families to become effective advocates for their children with disabilities so that they can make informed decisions as a member of school IEP teams. The Educational Equity Parent Advocate must have a strong connection to the community served and be knowledgeable about resources, services and supports for families.

Seeking Candidates for Summer 2017

Sign at DREDF's office reads: DREDF Disability Rights Education and Defense FundThe Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund (DREDF), located in Berkeley, California, offers field placement internships and summer positions for law students. Academic term internships generally involve a commitment of 8 to 16 hours per week. Summer internships generally involve a 40-hour per week commitment for at least 5 weeks, and preferably 8 to 10 weeks. Internships are unpaid. Individuals with disabilities, minority, and women candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
