Andrea Garcia-Perez immigrated with her parents from Mexico in the early 2000s. While adapting to the new culture and language, Andrea enjoyed the diverse cultures and people she met along the way. At a young age, she began translating for her parents and family members, initiating a desire to continue supporting Spanish speaking communities.
Andrea has worked in schools for seven years, initially as an afterschool program leader, as a preschool teacher assistant, and as a special education paraprofessional. It was during this time that Andrea developed a passion for supporting students with disabilities and their families and began her career as a special education preschool teacher.
She continues to support her former students and families, and plans to reach more communities through DREDF. Andrea loves to read, spend time with her family, and enjoys spoiling her senior dog, Smokey.
