Brian Kempfer

Brian Kempfer is Legal Counsel at the American Council of the Blind.

Brian’s work has included representing thousands of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in the Michigan prison system to secure effective communication access, challenging barriers that limited voting rights for people with disabilities, and working with DREDF and other disability rights organizations and scholars to submit a friend-of-the-court brief to the U.S. Supreme Court addressing healthcare access and medical risks for people with disabilities. He also interned with the Disability Rights Section at the U.S. Department of Justice, assisting with investigations of Americans with Disabilities Act violations.

He earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in History from Bowling Green State University.
