Tina Pinedo joined DREDF as Communications Director in January 2023. Prior to DREDF, Tina served as the Communications Director at Disability Rights Oregon. There, she coordinated and fielded press, refined the intake process to be more accessible, and uplifted the voices of people with disabilities using video. Before that, Tina worked at the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN), the national association for the Protection and Advocacy systems, and Disability Rights Washington. During her time at the NDRN, Tina created a comprehensive strategy for its web and social media presence and laid the groundwork for podcasting and video production. During her time at Disability Rights Washington, Tina worked on the launch of Rooted in Rights, a video and social media project, and was a member of the Amplifying Voices of Inmates with Disabilities Prison Project team.
Her experience within the Protection and Advocacy system monitoring places like jails, prisons, state psychiatric hospitals, foster care facilities, and residential treatment centers has instilled a sense of duty to push for deinstitutionalization, integration, and community-based models of care.
Tina has bipolar I disorder and grew up with an autoimmune disorder. She strongly believes disability is a part of the natural human experience and is motivated to make the world a more just, equitable, and inclusive place.
Tina earned her B.A. in Communication Studies from Seattle University.
