Setting Boundaries: Avoiding the Unauthorized Practice of Law

Webinar Recording

Most organizations rely on non-lawyer advocates, intake staff, and other professionals to give out information and support to constituents in need. The services offered by these staff members are essential. At the same time, if a person who is not licensed to practice law provides services that can only be done by a lawyer, that is called the “unauthorized practice of law.” In California, unauthorized practice of law is a crime with real penalties. This webinar covers the basics of how to provide critical services and supports while avoiding the unauthorized practice of law.
