Blaine Samson

Arlene Mayerson Legal Intern

Blaine Samson is an Arlene Mayerson Legal Intern and a rising second year J.D. candidate at UCLA School of Law, specializing in Critical Race Studies. She recently graduated from Rice University, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Social Policy Analysis, with minors in Sociology and Politics Law & Social Thought. As a UCLA Glazer Scholar dedicated to supporting Black and Brown communities of Los Angeles, Blaine combines her experiences in education equity, intersectionality, and children’s rights to advance disability justice for all in her home of ‘SoCal’. Her research with the ACLU of Southern California’s Censorship Mapping Project analyzes legislation disproportionately impacting marginalized students and communities of color, and her involvement with UCLA’s Disability Law Society and as a Co-Chair for the Education Rights Project has deepened her commitment to disability rights advocacy, particularly within K-12 special education.

At DREDF, Blaine is excited to explore marriage equality, family protections, and intersectional advocacy within the disability community. She aims to build a career advocating for inclusive policies that uphold the rights and dignity of disabled individuals and their families, ensuring equitable access to education, healthcare, and family life.
