Drew McKay joined the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF) as Communications Strategist in 2025. Drew brings over two decades of experience in strategic communications, marketing, and multimedia storytelling across disability focused government, nonprofit, and higher education organizations.
Throughout her career, Drew has worked to amplify the voices of people with disabilities and marginalized communities through creative storytelling, public education, and advocacy. She co-founded her county’s Diversity Coalition, successfully led grassroots efforts for disability legislation, and acted as Executive Director for a nonprofit that promoted positive images of people with disabilities.
Before joining DREDF, Drew led the strategy and communication efforts to reframe public understanding of disability through a disability-led organization working to make deep cultural changes and build public understanding through sharing stories. Drew has also developed digital learning tools, video campaigns, and community-centered initiatives that connect audiences to issues of access, equity, and inclusion.
Drew has also spent almost a decade consulting with organizations on the quality of their disability services, supporting people with developmental disabilities, and helping organizations strengthen inclusive practices.
Drew holds an MBA and a BFA in Art & Technology with a focus on visual storytelling.
Guided by lived experience with epilepsy, the belief that access benefits everyone, Drew’s work seeks to inspire understanding, dismantle barriers, and create a culture where all people belong. She is passionate about the power of narrative to advance justice, dismantle barriers, and remind the world that access benefits everyone.
