Webinar Recording
People with disabilities in the United States have historically been and continue to be denied their right to make their own decisions about core aspects of their lives–including what type of reproductive and sexual health care to access and whether or not to build families. Further, socioeconomic and accessibility barriers to utilizing reproductive and sexual health care may push this vital care out of reach for many disabled people. These realities were exacerbated by the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Org., which stripped Americans of their federal constitutional right to an abortion nearly two years ago. This webinar provides an overview of the barriers disabled people face when seeking reproductive and sexual health care in a post-Dobbs landscape.
The webinar also provides an overview of the legal responsibilities of healthcare providers when serving patients with disabilities so that attendees can effectively advocate for themselves or their clients with disabilities to ensure that any reproductive and sexual health care they access supports their bodily and decisional autonomy.
