DREDF is seeking examples of problems that Medi–Cal beneficiaries in California have experienced with obtaining non–medical transportation to needed services or treatments covered by Medi–Cal, including Denti–Cal. - occurred within the last 12 months, or could be ongoing;
- concerns an inability to get the county, a managed care plan, or the CA department of health care services to provide needed transportation;
- being offered or provided inadequate transportation (e.g., you are offered an inaccessible car ride that cannot accommodate your wheelchair or scooter, the service refuses to allow your attendant to accompany you without charge, or the transportation service’s personnel are poorly trained and refuse to offer needed accommodations).
I live in a rural county. I depended on ModivCare through Medi-Cal. This last year has been an absolute nightmare with the service not showing up on the day of my appointments. Not filling in my information correctly, not having rides assigned despite calling to tell me I’ll be picked up at the scheduled time, My information not showing up at all, and every time I’ve filed a grievance all they would say in the end is “sorry for the inconvenience.”
I’ve filed 5, and my healthcare navigator filed at least 3. My healthcare needs have been delayed. My disability case is going to be denied because I couldn’t finish getting necessary documentation filed on time, from lack of being able to see my doctor’s on time. Sept 30th Ian going to be homeless, due to the unacceptable and irresponsible actions of this company.
