Susan Freundlich

Portrait of Susan F.Susan is a development and philanthropy strategist. She has enjoyed a career of more than 30 years providing development consulting and staffing for a range of non-profit organizations and foundations. Susan has also served as a coach working with organizations and individuals dedicated to the creation of a more just and equitable future for our people and our planet.

Partnering with leaders and organizations she has raised funds to advance disability rights, racial and social justice, women’s economic and educational opportunity, and healing and justice in a deeply divided world.

Susan was involved in the early days of the disability rights movement, and worked as an advocate and activist in the Deaf community in Boston and New York. She worked as a sign language interpreter for two decades in a variety of settings, including law school, and medical and legal interpreting. Susan served as an interpreter for the New York Shakespeare Festival and for the first Broadway Company of Children of a Lesser God. She did extensive organizing to make progressive politics and culture accessible to Deaf people. Susan taught ASL at Northwestern University graduated Magna Cum Laude from Denver University.

When not working you can find Susan photographing people and nature, or playing Middle Eastern, Latin or African percussion. She loves dogs, the ocean and exploring new places.
